Cool Biz of the Year 2009

"Cool Biz," energy-conservation business wear for prevention of global warming, was started when the Expo 2005 Aichi took place. The Environment Ministry introduced this movement as a part of policy for  cutting greenhouse effect gas. Then-minister and lower house member  Ms. Yuriko Koike requested Hiroko Koshino and designer Mr.  Takeo Kikuchi to design men's business wear that enable wearers to  stay cool in less air-conditioned offices, and they made the Cool Biz  Collection 2005 successful in the Expo. Since then, Cool Biz became  well-known, nationwide seasonal movement.
Cool Biz of the Year Award was built in 2007 by the Cool Biz  promoting committee, represented by the above three, to honor organizations/persons for their effort for preventing warming. This  year 8 organizations/persons including Daikin Industries, Ltd. and  Danish Ambassador to Japan Franz-Michael Skjold Mellbin were awarded  on November 30th in Tokyo.
